Who is doing a VBS this year?
What program are you using, or are you creating something from scratch?
What are some of your success stories from previous years?
How do you set up the program? Who all is involved?
What are your best snack ideas?
Happy conversing!

We've been using the Liguouri VBS materials for the past 8 years after making our own for ages. It makes it quick and easy. We do add some extra pieces to it. We'll typically have about 180 campers 3 Yr olds-incoming 5th graders, about 50-60 Middle Schoolers as part of the "support team" along with a number of High Schooler helping at the stations with the adult leaders. After the campers leave the middle schoolers stay for various activities during the afternoon. They come in for at least one 3 hour work day prior to camp and they paint the backdrops, get the crafts and game materials all laid out for the station leaders and do so much of the leg work. They are the backbone of the week. We have kids who can't be there for the afternoons or even for the entire camp who just come to the work days. The problem is keeping the workdays small enough so every has a task and can stay on task. It's been a source of developing our future high school leaders. During the week they put on the skits, serve as guides for the small groups, help at the various stations and anything else we can dream up. It really is a great tool for evangelizing. We always get families who get invited by a neighbor or friend to come for the week and come back to the church or come for the first time. Bill

"It's been a source of developing our future high school leaders." I'm impressed that y'all are consciously thinking of the future.
