A Harvest of blessings to my fellow DRE's!!

Question: we are celebrating the sacrament of Confirmation on November 1st!!! what a gift!!!!
I would love to see this celebration "extra special" with great music, visuals, and involvment.....
Has anyone done anything special outside of the rubrics of a normal confirmation liturgy that has made this celebration unique?
any suggestions? All suggestions made will be brought immediately to staff....it's getting late so don't hold back!

ps..our Bishop is unable to make it and has given permission to the pastors to perform the sacrament!
so what do you think?

:P

Personally I am a great believer in letting the liturgy speak for itself. The Rite of Confirmation doesn't need any gimicks to be powerful especially if you have reflected in it well before hand with the students.
If the music is the best your parish has to offer,
If the students who have a stong connection to the Word are prepared and proclaim it,
If the students truley respond open heartedly to the questions connecting to their Baptismal Vows.
If the names of the students are proclaimed with the love and pride that their community have in their faith,
If the chrism is used lavishly,
If the prayers of the faithful reflect their deepest prayers,
If those who are really fed by the Eucharist bring up the gifts, etc...
it will all speak to them.
It has become a tradition in our parish to gather the newly confirmed about a week after for a service project. It gives them an opportunity to put that newly confirmed faith into action within the community and discuss the expreience of being confirmed. Perhaps you might wish to add a post confirmation event to your schedule to they can put their new committment to their faith into action alongside other adults from your parish community Prime the adults they will be working with to discuss their experience of receiving the sacrament with them and encourage them to be more involved with their faith in an ongoing way.

What a great day for a celebration!

A few thoughts that come to mind: great prelude music, a litany of the saints, well-done worship aids, a celebratory worship environment, the sponsors and candidates sitting together, a celebration/reception after the liturgy.

Peace,
Pam
