A prayer that is most dear to me is just a few words that I learned from one of my IHM Sisters: "May I be loving kindness, may I be loving kindness. You are loving kindness, you are loving kindess." It is my "ordinary time" prayer that slips from my lips in tough times, and echoes in my mind and heart throughout the day and night.

Scripture is full of references to God's "loving kindness". One of my faves is in Psalm 63: "Because your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you." (verse 3)

What is one of your favorite prayers?

my favorite prayer is the litany of saints. every time we pray it at church it reminds me of all the people - especially my friends who have died - who are still with us and watching over us. it gives me great comfort. i know i'm not alone.

The Memorae or Thomas Merton's ...

If I had to settle, it would be the prayer usually heard only among Catholics, for those "who have no one to pray for them." Yes, that one is from God's own heart.

Wow, that is a prayer that I too know and that runs deep in my soul. I have rarely heard others pray it yet it seems so, so vital.

When I was a little girl someone gave me a holy card that was "ugly" to me. It was white with red type & it had the prayer of St. Ignatius on it - Take Lord... For some odd reason I kept this "ugly" holy card & I've continued to pray this prayer. I have to say that I didn't quite understand the prayer as a little girl but each day this prayer means more & more to me.
Take, O Lord, and receive my entire liberty,
my memory, my understanding and my whole will.
All that I am and all that I possess You have given me.
I surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your will.
Give me only Your love and Your grace;
with these I will be rich enough,
and will desire nothing more.

Yes, that's a great one too.

Psalm 51 is my morning favorite.

Help - I'm in search of morning prayer podcasts. Any ideas? The wonderful 'Anchoress' has some and now I'm hooked.

Hi, Fuquay Steve -- have you checked out http://pray-as-you-go.org? Another one (though not a podcast) is SacredSpace.

Any ideas for Advent out there? - i.e. how you are finding time to pray with all the hectic activities? I would love to go to daily mass but with my work schedule it's not possible so looking for "doable" Advent prayer ideas...

I find the Three Minute retreat on the Finding God website an opportunity to reflect and focus. It is for me a doable way to live the day and the Advent Season.
