I'm looking for ideas for a book that a group of four couples can study and discuss together. Our group (four couples) has been meeting for years. We've mostly used the Loyola Press Six Weeks with the Bible books. They are excellent, and we'll probably return to them, but we're looking for something different for a while. We'd like a book that's challenging, that's practical, that's relevant to eight people of different backgrounds and temperaments.

Any ideas?

Here's one to try:

What Jesus Said and Why it Matters Now by Timothy D. Fallon. His website, explaining how the book came about is at http://www.timfallon.com/index.html
or you can get it from St. Anthony Messenger press or a local Catholic bookstore.

Here is the description: "What Jesus Said and Why It Matters Now is a powerful tool to help readers recognize God’s presence in their lives and personalize stories in the Gospels." The website has downloadable PDF resources to use when studying the book.

And, of course, our good friends at Loyola Press have a great book: My Life with the Saints - with a FREE discussion guide (add to your cart when you check out.)

Two ideas or three actually, we used Theology of the body if anyone has the cd's and books, #2 The Saints, it is very interesting and worthwhile for each couple to select a saint each week and tell there story.#3 At present we are studyinh the pamphlets and the entire printout on the changes in the sayings and words in the Mass come the first of 2010 that way we are somewhat prepared and do not suffer from sticker shock, changing the wording of the Mass.
